Description
The Male Hormone Profile At-Home Blood Test from All Checked Up is a capillary blood test that measures nine key biomarkers of male hormonal health: Total Testosterone, Free Testosterone (Calculated), SHBG, Albumin, LH, FSH, Oestradiol, Prolactin and DHEA-sulphate. It offers a fast and convenient way to measure your key hormonal markers for investigating symptoms such as low libido, fatigue, erectile difficulties, low mood or reduced muscle mass. You can collect your sample at home with our fingerprick blood sample collection kit or upgrading to our Auto-Arm Tasso device that attaches to your upper arm to draw your blood sample automatically for a virtually painless collection method.
Your blood sample is tested at our UKAS-accredited and CQC registered UK partner laboratory, with results reviewed by a GPhC-registered pharmacist and returned in 1 to 2 days.
What biomarkers does our Male Hormone Profile test measure?
- Testosterone
- Free Testosterone (Calculated)
- Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG)
- Prolactin
- DHEA Sulphate
- Follicle Stimulating Hormone
- Luteinising Hormone
- Oestradiol
- Albumin
Testosterone (Total)
Testosterone is the primary marker of male hormonal function that drives libido, erectile function, muscle mass, bone density, mood and energy.
Free Testosterone
Free testosterone is the biologically active fraction of Testosterone. It is the part of Testosterone that is not bound to carrier proteins, and is therefore available for the body to use.
Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG)
SHBG is a protein made by the liver that binds testosterone tightly and controls how much the body testosterone the body can use.
Albumin
Albumin is an abundant protein that weakly and reversibly binds testosterone. It is used to calculate free testosterone levels and can also be used to mildly assess liver or kidney function.
Luteinising Hormone (LH)
LH is important in the production of testosterone and can help identify if there are any issues with testosterone production or response.
Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
FSH is important in sperm production and works alongside LH .
Oestradiol
Oestradiol is an oestrogen produced in small amounts in men
Prolactin
Prolactin is a hormone. Raised prolactin in men can cause reduced libido, infertility and low testosterone.
DHEA-Sulphate (DHEA-S)
DHEA-S is a useful marker for assessing adrenal function. Very high DHEA-S can indicate an adrenal problem whilst very low DHEA-S may be seen in adrenal insufficiency or with long-term corticosteroid use
