This test looks at the level of HbA1c in your body. HbA1c is a direct measurement of your average glucose levels in your bloodstream over the last 2 – 3 months. It is different to the self-check finger-prick blood sugar monitor, as this only provides a snapshot of your blood glucose levels at a particular time which can vary for example after meals or when fasting.
This test is more accurate in diagnosing Type 2 diabetes or identifying pre-diabetes, and monitoring patients with Type 2 diabetes to make sure it’s well controlled.

Results are usually available within 48 hours from the lab receiving your sample. They will be available to view and download from your secure online account with a clinical comment from our medical team
You can order our self collection test kit to take your sample at home. If you prefer to have a nurse take your sample, you can book an appointment at either our Manchester or London clinic or select the option for a nurse to visit you at home nationwide.
