• It is best to take this test in the morning before any food and preferably before taking any medication
• You should not have any vitamin or iron supplements 24 hours before this test
• You should fast (Not eat or drink anything other than water) for 8 hours before the test
• Try not to eat meat for 12 hours prior to the test
• You should limit your exercise to normal activities 48 hours before the test (for example no  vigorous exercise) since muscle strain from exercise can temporarily increase CK levels in your blood and (for men) increase PSA levels
• (For men) The following may cause PSA levels to be elevated
  • You should not do this test if you have an active urinary infection (UTI) or had a UTI Or urological intervention such as prostate biopsy in previous 6 weeks.
  • You should not have ejaculated in previous 48 hours
