About This Test
It is estimated 1 in 50 UK females will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in their lifetime.
This blood test measures the amount of CA125 antigen in your blood. Elevated levels of CA125 above 35 KIU/L have been found in about 80% of women with ovarian cancer.
Book an appointment at either our Cheshire clinic in Macclesfield or London clinic in Marylebone for a blood test. You can also order this test as a self-collect fingerprick blood test which can be taken at home.
Results are securely emailed to you and are usually available within 48 hours of the lab receiving your test. We offer a free referral letter to your GP signed by a Pharmacist for abnormal results.
Your sample will be tested in a lab based here in the UK which is fully UKAS accredited and ISO15189 certified. Our labs use the same equipment used in the NHS and recommended by NICE.
About Ovarian Cancer
Ovarian cancer is the 6th most common cancer in women. There are around 7,000 new cases every year in the UK with incidence rates projected to rise by 5% between 2023-2025. It is estimated 1 in 50 UK females will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in their lifetime.
Ovarian cancer is responsible for 4,100 cancer deaths in the UK every year making it a more frequent cause of death than the more common cancer such as the uterus and cervix.
Symptoms of ovarian cancer include feeling ‘bloated’, loss of appetite or feeling full quickly, pain in the abdomen or pelvic area, needing to pass urine urgently or more often than usual, and unexplained tiredness, weight loss or changes in bowel habit (for example, constipation or diarrhoea).

You can personalise this blood test by adding additional markers at a discounted price compared to having each marker as a standalone blood test.
Options on what can be added to each blood test will be presented when making your booking. If there is a specific blood test you require which is not listed and we are able to offer this, you can either call our Pharmacy beforehand or request the marker be added at your appointment.
We will take all required samples for your additional blood tests at your appointment. Additional blood tests must be tested at the same appointment as the main test in order to be eligible for the discounted add-on blood test price.

We recommend turning up around 15 minutes early to your appointment. Our Phelobotomist will go through some basic medical questions to ensure you are well enough for the blood test. A blood sample will be taken from your arm and sent off to our UKAS accredited lab.
Yes, we are a registered Pharmacy with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). You can check our registration status here
No you do not need a referral from your GP for this blood test. We only require a referral for patients below the age of 18 years old. We can only provide blood tests to patients above 12 years old.
We will not share any test results with your GP unless you ask us to do so. We do however recommend you share any results you receive from us with your GP or regular prescriber so they have a full and accurate picture of your health
