Full Blood Count (also known as a Complete Blood Count) A full blood count provides important information about the kinds and numbers of cells in the blood:
  • Red blood cells (transporting of oxygen)
  • White blood cells (immune system), and
  • Platelets (helps blood clot). It also includes:
  • Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). ESR can show if you have inflammation in your body

  • It is best to take this test in the morning before any food and preferably before taking any medication
  • You should not have iron supplements 24 hours before this test
  • You should fast (Not eat or drink anything other than water) for 8 hours before the test
  • Try not to eat meat for 12 hours before the test

A venous blood draw is taken from your arm by a qualified medical professional. A finger-prick test is usually done at-home by you and sent off to our lab. We would always encourage a venous blood draw as it is generally more accurate and there is less chance of the sample not being able to be tested

No, for the blood tests listed on our website, you don’t need a referral from your GP

You can book your appointment online or by calling us on 01625 568188

We will not share any test results with your GP unless you ask us to do so. We do however recommend you share any results you receive from us with your GP or regular prescriber so they have a full and accurate picture of your health

We recommend turning up around 15 minutes early to your appointment. Our Phelobotomist will go through some basic medical questions to ensure you are well enough for the blood test. A blood sample will be taken from your arm and sent off to our UKAS accredited lab. You will also be able ask any questions with our Pharmacist

Yes, we are a registered Pharmacy with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). You can check our registration status here

You will receive your results online usually within 48 working hours from your appointment. You can also have your results posted to any UK address

We are able to provide  blood tests to patients aged 18 years and older
