Female Hormone Profile

A comprehensive blood test measuring key hormones of the menstrual cycle to identify perimenopause

Our Female Hormone Profile blood test offers an in-depth insight into four main hormones: FSH, LH, Oestradiol, and Progesterone.  An imbalance in these hormones can cause the symptoms of Menopause including hot flashes, vaginal dryness, mood changes, night sweats, weight gain, and slowed metabolism. It also includes a test for Testosterone and Prolactin levels.

This test is taken at our GPHC-registered medical clinic based in Macclesfield or CQC registered clinic in Marylebone. A blood sample will be taken professionally from a vein in your arm by our qualified Phlebotomist. Results are usually available within 24-48 hours from your appointment day. They will be available to view and download from your secure online account with a clinical comment from our medical team.

The following hormones are included in this test:
  • FSH
  • Luteinising Hormone (LH)
  • Prolactin
  • Oestradiol – 17-Beta
  • Progesterone
Recommended alongside this test We also recommend our Thyroid test alongside this test. This is because symptoms of an underactive or over active thyroid are similar to menopausal symptoms
This test should be taken 2-5 days after the start of your period, ideally on day 3. If you do not have any periods, it can be taken at any time. You should not take this test if you are on hormonal contraception, as it can affect the results. You should take a break from your contraception and use barrier contraception if you would like to take this test but you are taking hormonal contraception.
