Our early pregnancy test quantitatively measures the amount of human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) hormone in your blood, which can detect pregnancy at the earliest possible stage, even before a missed period. hCG rises in the early days of pregnancy, usually doubling every two to three days, and peaking by the 11th week. This test can also be used if you are already pregnant and want reassurance that the first stage is progressing as it should be.

A hCG blood test is more precise than a urine test as it can detect very small levels of hCG hormone. It is useful if you want to confirm pregnancy in the very early stages — usually within 7 to 10 days after conception.
A hCG blood test can also help monitor pregnancy to make sure everything is as it should be. hCG levels normally double every two days during the first few weeks of pregnancy. If the levels don’t rise, it might suggest a problem with the pregnancy. Extremely high hCG levels might mean that you’re carrying twins, but confirmation should be sought from an ultrasound scan.

A venous blood draw is taken from your arm by a qualified medical professional. A finger-prick test is usually done at-home by you and sent off to our lab. We would always encourage a venous blood draw as it is generally more accurate and there is less chance of the sample not being able to be tested

We will not share any test results with your GP unless you ask us to do so. We do however recommend you share any results you receive from us with your GP or regular prescriber so they have a full and accurate picture of your health
We recommend turning up around 15 minutes early to your appointment. Our Phelobotomist will go through some basic medical questions to ensure you are well enough for the blood test. A blood sample will be taken from your arm and sent off to our UKAS accredited lab. You will also be able ask any questions with our Pharmacist
